Who We Are

Redondo Beach Power Squadron is part of the United States Power Squadron, Sail & Power Boating which boasts a membership of 60,000 and 450 squadron across the nation.  Redondo Beach was formed in May of 1958. At present time we have 100 members both men and women.  Redondo Beach is in southern California, about 4 miles from Los Angeles Airport.  We are located about 20 miles southwest of the city of Los Angeles. Our members are located in a variety of cities mainly because we have three of the largest marinas within several miles of Redondo Beach.  Some of our members have their boats locally but may live as far as 40 miles away.  We have members who no longer have boats and have moved out of state and still maintain their memberships.  We send out a monthly newsletter to all our members. Redondo Beach Power Squadron offers boating safety courses on a regular bases to boaters in the South Bay area. These courses are open to the public (see our Boating Classes page) for a list of all we offer, and there is no age limit for participants. Successful completion of a USPS® boating safety course meets the educational requirements for boat operation in all states, both on lakes and the ocean, and is a requirement for squadron membership.

Learn from experienced instructors. Advanced Grade, Elective and Learning Guide material is continually updated to prepare our members for the 21st Century. Self study courses available on a variety of subjects.  On the water activities (see activities page), cruises, Redondo Beach Power Squadron social events, parties, picnics, dinner dances. For the relatively new boater, another boater with whom to cruise. So come cruise and drop anchor with us, we can guarantee you will benefit and have lots of fun. We serve Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Torrance, El Segundo, Hawthorne and surrounding areas. Our boating classes are taught in Torrance and Redondo Beach. (see boating class page)
